The Redmi Note 4 that features Qualcomm Snapdragon processor was the first to receive the Global MIUI 9 Beta, which runs on Android Nougat in India. However, the smartphones like Mi MAX, Mi 5 and Mi Max 2 in India which did not receive beta update in the first phase, have now received the update in the second phase.

This is the beta version of the new MIUI and there are potential issues and risks associated with it, so it is better to wait for the stable version of UI is rolled out. If you do not to wait and get through with it, it is recommended to back-up your data completely.

Since it is a beta build you will not find it in the Update section in your smartphone’s settings and will have to manually download it from MIUI blog and install the new OS. The Xiaomi says users should flash via Flashboot update, rather than the Recovery method, which can cause failure, in case you are moving from stable ROM to MIUI Developer ROM based on Android N. Users will have to unlock the bootloader for Fastboot options.
