Reliance Jio Phone Refundable Only After 3 Years

We are sure you have heard the quote,” Nothing in this life comes for free”. Today, you will definitely be able to relate with this saying when we give you the news that the recently launched JioPhone is not free. Ever since Chairman Mukesh Ambani launched the so-called “effectively zero-priced” phone, the Jio users in India went crazy for the phone. However, the company had not revealed the related terms and conditions that users will have to stick to after purchasing the device.

Finally, Jio has released an official report on its website stating the terms for returning the Jio Phones.It seems that users of the Jio phone will have to shed out at least Rs 4500 before they can actually return the phone.To be specific, every Jio phone user must use the device for three years and must do an annual recharge of Rs 1500 every year. Then only the Reliance will return you the initial deposit of Rs 1500 while purchasing the phone.

The official report on the website says,” The JioPhone is available for continued use on the Recipient purchasing telecom recharge vouchers of an Authorized Carrier (presently Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited) from the Company or any of its authorized retailers for use in the JioPhone of a minimum value of Rs 1,500 per annum for a period of 3 years from the date of the first issue of the JioPhone.”

In addition to that, those users who fail to recharge Rs 1500 annually, Reliance Jio has all rights to take back their smartphone and they might also have to pay some additional charges to the company.

But Wait, There’s more! Let us suppose a user buys a Jiophone and after using it he decides to return the device, then he will have to pay Reliance Jio an amount of Rs 1500 + GST. Similarly, if a user decides to return the device after one year is liable to pay Rs 1000 + GST and finally if he returns the device after 2 years but before the completion of the 3rd year, then he will end up paying Rs 500 + GST.

The fun fact is that more than 60 lakh users have pre-registered for the JioPhone and it would be interesting to see how the users react to this latest update from Reliance Jio.
