It is important to point out that Instagram has already helped the users to go live with a friend by using the Instagram Live feature. As this feature is visible to all your followers, so it is not as the private for the users as the video calls.
Although, there is no official confirmation from social media giant on this video calling feature, still according to the buzz in the rumor mill, this feature might get rolled out by the end of this quarter. As per the report by WABetaInfo, this feature will be placed next to the info button of a chat in the direct messages section. After opening the direct message section on Instagram, you will be able to make a video call, if the person on the other end is also available for video chat. This video call request cannot be made to anyone, who has not accepted the direct message request of the sender.
