Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi, launched two of its flagship smartphones, Mi Note 2 and Mi Mix last year in China. The Mi Mix showed a three-sided bezel-less design, but the Mi Mix 2 will feature almost full bezel-less design, which is expected to be launched by the company later this year.
The leaks also reveal that the next-generation of the bezel-less display will come with a 3D facial recognition feature. A screenshot shared by a user on a Chinese website shows a head-shaped outline at the bottom that suggests the smartphone may come with facial recognition. The head-shaped outline was earlier seen in the recently launched Samsung Galaxy smartphones that support facial recognition feature. As per leaks and renders, iPhone 8 is also expected to feature 3D facial recognition.
Philippe Starck, which was confirmed as the partner in designing the Mi Mix 2, has posted a concept video on its official Facebook page. The video showed that the Mi Mix 2 will feature a bezel-less display and a very thin chin at the bottom.
The video shows that the Mi Mix 2 will come with a slight curve display on both sides, similar to that of Samsung Galaxy S8. The front camera is located at the bottom of the display, unlike conventional front cameras that are placed above the screen. The USB Type-C port along with the speaker grills are also located at the bottom.
The Mi Mix 2 is expected to run Android 7.1.1 Nougat with MIUI 9 out-of-the-box. Geekbench also listed the device on its website revealing the core specifications, which reveal Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 Octa-core processor along with the Adreno 540 GPU and 6GB RAM. The display, as revealed, will be a 6.4-inch QHD screen and the rear camera on the device is expected to be a 19MP camera sensor and a 13MP selfie shooter up front. To power this, the battery capacity is expected to 4,500mAh.
